After the former Portland Trail Blazers star guard ended up in Milwaukee instead of Miami, Herro is ready to prove that he was worth trading for.
The Heat were the favorites to land Lillard, but the Blazers ultimately determined that a trade package centered around Herro and future draft picks was not enough to give their biggest star away.
After the saga ended, the 23-year-old Heat guard is certain his trade value should be higher than people think.
"I'm one of the best young scorers in the league, and I have the potential to be the best scorer in the NBA at some point," he said in an interview with Wes Goldberg from The Ringer.
Even though he's not considered a star, Herro has the stats to back himself up. Last season, he averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists, becoming the 12th player in this century to do so in the NBA, with all other such players considered stars.
"I want to get myself to a place where I'm not thinking about if I'm getting traded every summer," Herro said.
