First, the Basque team lost against Bayern Munich on home court and closed out the EuroLeague double week by being blown out, once again at home, at the hands of Zalgiris Kaunas.

Already, rumors started about coach Penarroya's dismissal from the squad, and the loss on October 22 to Unicaja Malaga certainly did not help matters.

Speaking at the press conference after the Malaga game, Penarroya did not hold back.

"I am not worried; I am calm about being fired or not," the Spanish specialist said. "The team needs to be more consistent. I am saying this because I am working with a great group of players. If I cared about every criticism, then I would hang myself from a tree."

"We are only in the month of October, and the season has just started. I will continue working hard as I have always done in my career. If you have come here to hold my funeral, there is no such situation. I am quite calm at the moment," Penarroya continued.

Penarroya also emphasized that he still has a great relationship with his players.

"My communication with the players is great. Right now, there is neither mine nor Baskonia's funeral being held. If the losses aren't affecting the players now, then there is a problem there."

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz will travel to Greece to face off against Panathinaikos Athens on October 27.
