The French organization has been hit with a cyberattack by a ransomware gang, NoEscape.

"The damage suffered has, to date, not led to a cessation of activity; the nature and extent of harm to third parties is being determined with the assistance of qualified professionals and relevant state services," ASVEL announced, adding that original data hasn't been compromised.

The club added that they found out about the cyberattack through the media on October 12th and were able to confirm it on October 17th.

"It is important to specify that to date, and to the club's knowledge, no means of payment (in particular, bank card or RIB (bank statements)) has been stolen," the club writes.

ASVEL have made a data breach notification to the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty, filed a complaint with the competent state services, and contacted third-party companies to help better protect sensitive data in the future.

The exact method of how the data breach happened remains unclear.
