Milwaukee Bucks Philadelphia 76ersThu23:30 Milwaukee Bucks Atlanta HawksSun23:00According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, Giannis Antetokounmpo agreed on a new three-year $186 million max deal with the franchise.
The deal includes a player option on the 2027-28 season, Woj adds. The deal was finalized after the club representatives and Giannis' agent, Alex Saratsis, met on Sunday. It had to be done before the official deadline at 11:59 PM EST on Monday if both sides wanted to sign an extension.
The player option in the deal will allow Giannis to earn more money over the course of his career, Wojnarowski writes. The Over-38 rule in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) the league and its player signed earlier this year will allow the superstar forward to sign a short-term deal with the Bucks in 2026 again and a four-year extension in 2028.
Before the new extension, the Greek Freak still had two years left in his current contract and was set to earn $45,640,084 in the upcoming season.
Last year, Antetokounmpo averaged 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. This offseason, the Bucks acquired Damian Lillard in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers and are viewed as one of the favorites to win the NBA championship.
