The game, which is set for February 18 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, will have a traditional scoring system with four 12-minute quarters, eliminating the Elam Ending.
This scoring format sets a target point total for teams to reach in order to win, thus guaranteeing every game ends on a winning basket or free throw, rather than the clock running out.
The 2023 game marked the first time in All-Star history that the two teams were selected by team captains moments before tip, as though it were a schoolyard game.
The teams will compete to win each quarter to benefit a charitable organization of their choosing.
The voting process to determine All-Stars rosters will remain the same, with 12 players picked from each conference. The highest vote-getter in each conference will be named captain of their team.
The league began tinkering with the ASG format in 2018, having captains draft their teams from a pool of 24 players.

Meanwhile, the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association had also agreed to discuss increased competitiveness in the All-Star Game as part of a new collective bargaining agreement.
"While the NBA All-Star Game will no longer have an untimed fourth quarter or conclude when one team reaches or surpasses the Final Target Score, the teams will continue to compete to win each quarter for a charitable organization of their choosing," the league said in its announcement Wednesday.
