After the practice in Camden, instead of taking the team up on their suggestion, Harden tried to onboard the plane to Milwaukee.
That was when he was met with an ugly surprise: the team's security detail did not let him on the plane.
Head coach Nick Nurse and the team's general manager Elton Brand explained to Harden that the team preferred to have the point guard in Philadelphia with the aim of contributing to his "ramp-up."
Irrespective of any explanation, Harden took off in anger.
According to the Harden camp, this is not the case, however, as the player remains convinced that the team believes the guard would distract the team in their away games.
This incident is the latest in the saga of the deteriorating relationship between James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers management. No sanctions have been announced so far on the player by the club.
The guard averaged 20.3 points and 8.3 assists per game in the Philadelphia 76ers's disappointing playoff run last season.
