Barcelona lost the game by a single point. The club did not officially protest the game, hence, its outcome will not be changed. However, the club will write an official letter to the EuroLeague, asking to explain a decision made by the refereeing crew, Marca reports.
With 2:48 left in the first quarter, Jan Vesely made a jump shot to push Barca's lead to 10 (16-6). However, the referees stopped the play after the shot and went to review the play, as the game clock had stopped multiple times during the possession.
First, the game clock stopped at 2:55, then again at 2:52. It was kept stopped for multiple seconds, and the officials decided to time the possession manually to determine whether the shot was attempted on time.
During a lengthy review, the referees made a decision to cancel the shot due to a shot clock violation. It sparked a reaction from Barca's head coach, Roger Grimau, who argued with referee Ilija Belosevic about the call.
It was the first Barca's loss in the 2023-24 EuroLeague season.
