Pablo Laso on recent coach firings: 'If only it would be that easy' / News - Basketnews.com
Laso thinks that simply firing the coach is not going to change the team's dynamic or drastically improve the result. He believes in the work the coaches are doing, and only they know what the team is truly like from the inside out.

With the recent firings of multiple specialists in the EuroLeague, Laso thinks that it is not the best way to manage the situation.

The veteran coach believes the recent dismissals of his colleagues - TJ Parker, Dusko Ivanovic, and Joan Penarroya - were premature moves by the organizations.
In an interview with Aleksandra Radivojevic from SportKlub, Laso explained his position.
"This is very simple. When I started coaching many years ago, they told me, 'Are you ready to get fired?' And I got fired, so it's part of the job, and you have to understand it. That means I like it, that means I agree with it? No. A lot of times - I don't know how to say it in English - it's el eslabón pequeño de la cadena, the little thing from the chain. You're not going to fire 10 players, you're going to fire the coach," he said.
"Maybe that next coach that will come won't do better, but it looks like you're going to change that position, and everything is going to go well. If only it would be that easy," Laso continued. "I don't think that way. It's true that we're the little chain, and it looks like if you change the coach, everything is going to be okay. For sure, it's not. I'm a guy who believes a lot in the work the coaches are doing all around Europe."
Laso believes that only the coaches know what the team is truly like and how the players look every single day, not only on the court but off the court as well.
"In the NBA, under different circumstances, they often ask, 'What do you think about that team?', 'I don't know, ask their coach, because I don't see them practice every day, I don't know what problems they have.' That's why I have a lot of respect for coaches because they are the only ones who know what the reality of the team is," he explained.
"Firing coaches? Heh, I have to understand it. It's the way it is, but a lot of times, firing the coaches is not what's going to change the dynamic. We have to probably live or die with it. For Dusko, it's simple - he can just go to Vitoria," Laso concluded, laughing.
