Wendell Carter Jr. injured his left hand, after going for a rebound in the dying seconds of Orlando's win over the Utah Jazz.

After losing Markelle Fultz (knee) and Gary Harris (groin), the Orlando Magic have been dealt another early blow to the lineup.

Starting center Wendell Carter Jr. will undergo surgery to repair a fractured third metacarpal in his left hand. The player injuredhis third metacarpal, after going for a rebound in the waning seconds of Thursday's win over the Utah Jazz.

Carter Jr. is expected to be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks, with his status updated as appropriate.

Carter, 24, is averaging 9.4 points and 8.6 rebounds this season, his sixth in the NBA. He has struggled with his shot through those five games, having connected on just 37.8% of his attempts, well below his career mark of 51.4%.

The Magic replaced Carter with Goga Bitadze in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
