Caboclo dominated in the 2023 FIBA World Cup after changing his agent in the middle of the summer. At the time, the Brazilian big man had already agreed to a deal with Venezia.
Caboclo never showed up to the team's training camp and traveled to an NBA tour with Hapoel Ra'anana instead.
Following the player's official move to Partizan, the agency that represents him - Hazan Sports Management - sent a letter to Sportando, explaining the situation:
When I signed [to represent] Bruno, I looked at his contract and realized that he was not officially signed with Venezia. It was a preliminary contract, still unofficial, with a buyout to be paid if the preliminary agreement was not respected. That's why we knew from the beginning that we could leave at any time. The owner made a big mistake because the contract they made was very poorly written. From what I understand, he wanted to protect himself because he was about to go to elections.
We tried everything we could to pay the buyout a long time ago, but they just wanted to ruin my name and the player's name, thinking we would succumb to the pressure. I even received death threats on my social media platforms.
When Bruno joined the NBA tour [with Hapoel Ra'anana], they contacted all parties, including the NBA, to try and stop him from playing, but the parties knew the situation - that's why he played without problems. They never wanted the player, they didn't want the buyout, they just wanted to hurt him. FIBA proved us right, and now he's with Partizan.
