To cap it off, Maxey scored a career-high 50 points Sunday night against the Indiana Pacers.
Maxey had a night to remember, hitting a stepback three to reach to mark only eight other players have done in franchise history. However, he didn't want to focus on himself after the game.
"This had nothing to do with me. It's all Kelly Oubre, man. We're praying for him. I love my dawg. I just met him, but I love him. I hope he gets well soon," Maxey said.
Oubre Jr. was struck by a car while walking near his apartment in Philadelphia Saturday evening. The player sustained broken ribs and has other injuries to his hip and right leg. While he was discharged from the local hospital, Oubre Jr. is expected to miss significant time.
Maxey has been having a career start to the season, averaging 28.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game.
