In his comments to reporters, Williamson revealed that he feels he's been taking a "backseat" in line with the management's direction.
"Last year, we had a team meeting, and we brought up some things I can do better, especially with buying into the program. Right now, it's tough," Williamson said. "I'm taking a little bit of a backseat right now. I'm trusting the process. I'm trying my best to buy in right now."
Despite being in his healthiest state in over two years, Williamson is experiencing a dip in his individual statistics, averaging a career-low 21.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
New Orleans is grappling with a series of injuries, further complicating their situation. CJ McCollum is sidelined with a collapsed lung, Jose Alvarado has yet to play due to an ankle injury, Trey Murphy III has been out the entire year with a knee injury, and Herb Jones is currently dealing with a leg injury.
With a current record of 4-6, the Pelicans find themselves in the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings.
