The 27-year-old underwent an MRI that determined a nerve impingement on the left side of his lower back, the Nets announced later. It's a mild injury and is considered day-to-day, his agent Brian Lee told via Lewis.
The new injury will not require surgery, contrary to the one Simmons underwent earlier this year. Notably, he had injured the right side of his back last season.
Simmons had missed the last three games before the news was announced. So far this season, he has been averaging 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game, having competed in 6 contests.
