Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admitted that Draymond Green's actions against Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert were inexcusable.

"He took it too far," Kerr said before the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. "Draymond was wrong. He knows that. It's a bad look, and the five games are deserved."

Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels got into a shoving match near midcourt following a Timberwolves possession. Green rushed in and pulled Gobert away from behind with his arm around the center's neck.

Green was holding Gobert for nearly 10 seconds.

Thompson's jersey was ripped during the scuffle, which led to Green's second ejection of the season and two free throw attempts for Gobert. Green was issued a Flagrant 2 foul, and Thompson and McDaniels were given double technical fouls. All of them were ejected.

"I don't have a problem with [Green] trying to get Rudy off of Klay ... but he's got to let go," Kerr continued. "He hung on for six, seven seconds. It was a terrible visual for the league, for Draymond, and for everybody."

Finally, Kerr believes Green must find a balance without crossing the line too far with his behavior.

"Draymond has to find a way to not cross the line," Kerr said. "I'm not talking about getting an ejection or a technical, I'm talking about a physical act of violence. That's inexcusable."

"We have to do everything we can to give him the help and assistance he needs to be able to draw that distinction between being an incredible competitor, but he can't cross that line. He crossed it the other night, for sure," Kerr concluded.
