Talking with the media in the post-game press conference, Brown was adamant that the situation has to change.
"I slipped, that was it. I think I might've strained my groin a little bit. We'll see how it feels. The court was just slippery all game. As players, we're all here for the in-season tournament because it's going to generate revenue, excitement, competition, etc., but we have to make sure the court is safe to play on," he said. "We can't put our players out there and risk their health. Tonight, I felt the floor was kind of unacceptable. I think guys were just slipping all over the place, not just me."
In fact, Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic complained about the courts being slippery earlier in the week. At the same time, the Mavericks' home court was deemed inoperative due to a manufacturing issue, and the team played against the Los Angeles Clippers on their regular court on November 10th.
"The one we played in Boston was fine, I thought it was good. Tonight, it was just slippery. We've only played on two, I don't know. I heard some other guys have mentioned they were slipping around on other teams in different places in the league. I think they have to make sure that that's the emphasis before somebody gets seriously hurt," Brown said.
When Kristaps Porzingis, who sat next to Brown in the post-game presser, was asked about it, he agreed with his teammate.
"I definitely did," he answered after being asked whether he felt the court was slippery. "I saw him slip a couple of times in the game already, and you definitely feel it. There were some traveling calls because of the floor. It's definitely something that needs to be improved."
Interestingly, the NBA has cut out this part of the press conference in its official video of the presser, and the video begins with the question that followed after the critique of the Raptors court.
