During the game against the Knicks, Bridges, a left-handed player, executed a right-handed finger roll after receiving a pass from LaMelo Ball in the paint. Collins commented on the play:
"Right-handed finger roll, Miles Bridges. Remember, he is a left-handed basketball player but a right-handed human being. So you can do a lot of different things with either hand," the commentator said.
While the statement may seem innocent on its own, some interpreted it as a subtle reference to Bridges' off-court situation.
Currently entangled in a domestic violence case with the mother of his two children, Bridges pleaded no contest and is serving three years of probation, avoiding jail time. The victim accused the forward of assaulting her in front of their children.
In response to the domestic violence case, the NBA imposed a 30-game suspension without pay on Miles Bridges, which recently concluded.
