Having been crowned the NBA’s career scoring leader, LeBron James has also become the only player in NBA history to score 39.000 career points.

James reached the milestone with a 3-pointer in the first quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Utah Jazz. He finished with 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in 24 minutes as the Lakers cruised to a 131-99 victory.

James continues to play at an elite level in his 21st season, averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists. At his current pace, James should arrive at the 40.000-point milestone around the All-Star break.

James also ranks in the NBA’s all-time top 5 in minutes played (No. 3), field goals made and attempted (No. 2 in both), free throws made (No. 4) and attempted (No. 5) and assists (No. 4).

LeBron scored seven points to help the Lakers to an 11-7 lead and make him the first NBA player to reach 39.000 points in league history. He subbed out with a 15-9 lead and the Lakers continued the 8-0 run to move ahead 20-9.

James checked back in and Los Angeles scored six straight points to go up by 20 points with 1:40 left in the half. James checked out of the game with 4:45 left in the third quarter and didn't return, allowing him additional rest ahead of Wednesday's game against the visiting Dallas Mavericks.
