The rookie star found himself needing to change his jersey midway through the first quarter due to a spelling error.
Instead of "Wembanyama," the nameplate on the back incorrectly read "Wembanyana," with an "n" in place of the last "m."
Completely absorbed in the matchup against the Bay Area team, Wemby initially didn't even notice the misspelled jersey. However, once he became aware of the error, the French big man made his disappointment clear.
"I don't know if somebody got fired, but the Spurs did their job checking on my name. I don't know. It's a real shame," Wembanyama said post-game, via Tom Orsborn.
Despite the Spurs' 118-112 loss, the rookie remained a bright spot for his team, delivering 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in 35 minutes.
