The Golden State Warriors lost 124-123 to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night. However, the negative result wasn't the worst thing that befell the Dubs, as guard Gary Payton II suffered a right calf tear and will be sidelined with no set return date, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The injury happened in the third quarter when Payton went down with a non-contact injury late in the third quarter after coming off a screen trying to defend Sacramento's De'Aaron Fox. Payton immediately started grabbing at his right leg, called to be subbed out, and then limped to the locker room.

The MRI results unveiled the complete extent of the injury. Meanwhile, Gary Payton II is expected to miss the next several weeks because of the injury, sources told Wojnarowski.

The Warriors, who lost the chance to advance in the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament, will likely need to rely more on either rookie Brandin Podziemski or emergency veteran Cory Joseph.

Payton has appeared in 14 games and played 17.3 minutes per night. He averages 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds, while recording 1.2 steals per game. He has a $9.13MM player option for next season.
