He then visited Mike James and AS Monaco back in the 2022 EuroLeague Playoffs following his former teammate's invite.
Now, another KD's ex-teammate in Brooklyn is set for his EuroLeague debut. Zalgiris KaunasguardEdmond Sumner is preparing for his first EuroLeague appearance on Tuesday night as Zalgiris travel to Berlin to face ALBA.
When asked if Sumner would extend a similar invitation to Durant for a EuroLeague game in Kaunas, Sumner responded optimistically.
"He might pop up, man," Sumner told Jonas Leksas of BasketNews. "I like KD. He was a great teammate and a great person. Hopefully, he gets here. He always says when he's done with the NBA, he wants to come over here and play.
"So, let's see if that actually happens. But I believe it, though, because he just loves ball, like that's all he cares about."
Sumner made his overseas debut on Sunday after playing 161 games in the NBA.
He went scoreless in the Lithuanian Basketball League win against Panevezys Lietkabelis, missing a three-pointer, committing a turnover, accumulating three fouls, and finishing with -5 PIR over just 5.5 minutes.
