"It's a big mix of things. Maturity, for sure. Like again, I am talking [about] what I could have done better. And then, I was not that much into analytics and numbers," Porzingis said. "If somebody, I think, at that stage of my career presented it to me the right way and said, 'This is what we need to do, this is what we need from you -- you are going to be way more effective doing this.' Like kinda explaining to me better. I think that would have made the difference a little bit."
According to Porzingis, the competition with Luka Doncic was also a fact that might have impacted the way his stint in Dallas ended.
"Early on, for sure. But I think we both tried to make it work. I think communication of both our parts should have been better."
Porzingis' tenure in Texas started in 2019. It ended in 2022 when the Mavs traded him and a protected 2022 second-round pick to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.
