Mark Cuban is about to sell a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks. While he's expected to retain sporting control over the franchise, the future of the team will be in the hands of the new majority owner, Miriam Adelson. The Mavericks longtime owner, Mark Cuban, has reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sell a majority stake in the franchise to the Adelson family, owners of several casinos around the world and by far one of the wealthiest families in the world.

The deal has yet to be finalized, but the feeling is that it will go through as early as 2024. Cuban, who bought the Mavericks in 2000 for just under $300 million, will earn more than $2 billion from the sale.

Cuban is also expected to retain sporting control of the franchise, which would allow him to have a fairly influential role within the organization. However, this change within the Mavericks also has significant political implications beyond the mere transfer of ownership.

When we look at these deals, we often dwell only on the figures involved, without considering the people who enter the NBA world and the political and geopolitical influences they bring with them.

For this reason,BasketNewsdecided to take you behind the scenes of this deal to explain some aspects that led to the Mavericks sale and what political implications this deal might generate. As they say in the United States, let's follow the money.
