Slovenia and Lithuania are two of the biggest names in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament next summer. The two countries will play against one another in preparation for it.

Slovenian Basketball Federation's (KZS) president Matej Erjavec held a meeting with the local media where he announced that head coach Aleksander Sekulic will continue to coach Slovenia until 2025.

In addition, the basketball operative said that Slovenia would bid to be one of the host cities of EuroBasket 2029. At the same time, Erjavec said that Slovenia would play two friendly games against Lithuania this upcoming summer.

Slovenia played against Lithuania in the 2023 FIBA World Cup last September. Lithuania was victorious in the 5-8 places game, 100-84.

Slovenia have been drawn to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus, Greece. They will play against New Zealand and Croatia in Group A with a possibility of meeting Giannis Antetokounmpo's Greece or Karl-Anthony Towns' Dominican Republic in the next round.

Lithuania, meanwhile, will compete in San Juan, Puerto Rico. They will play against Mexico and Cote d'Ivoire in Group A, while Group B consists of Italy, Puerto Rico, and Bahrain.
