The Greek tactician published a sentimental message on his social media accounts, thanking the team and the fans for the journey.

Itoudis also reiterated his trust in the team that Fenerbahce built this year, responding to criticism leveled in this regard.

The head coach spent a small but substantial time in Fenerbahce, helping the team reach the playoffs last season and being the team to hand Real Madrid their first loss this season.

Ultimately, the Fenerbahce management decided to part ways with Itoudis after hitting a rough patch in the EuroLeague season (accumulating 6 losses in the last 7 games) and a loss to archrivals Anadolu Efes Istanbul in the domestic league. Fenerbahce hired Sarunas Jasikevicius instead.

FULL STATEMENT BY ITOUDIS

After an enriching one-and-a-half-year tenure in Istanbul, filled with cherished memories, I have been informed that my journey with Fenerbahce Ailesi has reached its conclusion. Our time together was marked by significant victories and us coming only seconds away from reaching the Final Four in the Euroleague in our first season.

We also encountered challenges, moments that could have steered our journey differently. However, I assure our fans that in those times, our resolve never wavered; we fought tirelessly, often against our odds. I am not one of the critics, and I will never stop believing in the team we built this year and the players I coached. I am proud of them and believe they will be at the Final-4 even in my absence because they truly deserve it.

I extend my deepest gratitude to my dedicated staff, whose countless hours of hard work and unwavering support were pivotal.

Finally, and most importantly, I offer my greatest thanks to the Fenerbahce fans. Your warm welcome and endless love throughout my time have been invaluable. Together, we forged this year an impregnable arena that remained undefeated, a testament to your amazing support and the spirit we created.

As I bid farewell, I carry with me the spirit of Fenerbahce and wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors. Until we meet again.
