"I talked with Paulius Jankunas [GM of Zalgiris Kaunas]. As far as I know, Keenan doesn't have a buyout clause, and it would be crazy to let him go right now," Maksvytis clarified.
Before the game, the Lithuanian club assured their subscribers through their communication platform that Evans was not heading elsewhere. Evans is on an expiring contract with Zalgiris.
Maksvytis also talked about his own future with the club.
"It's part of the coach's job; teams always demand maximum results," the coach explained. "I have to admit, there was no maximum. It wouldn't have been a surprise if I had been fired," he also admitted.
His remarks come after a series of events in which the club decided not to fire the Lithuanian head coach after backlash from players.
Zalgiris Kaunas currently sits in the 16th position with 5 wins and 9 losses.
