Gianmarco Pozzecco addressed the role ascribed to Boris Dallo and Mbaye Ndiaye at ASVEL. It seems that the two players enjoy a completely different status.

Given little playing time by formerLDLC ASVEL Villeurbannecoach T.J. Parker in the EuroLeague,Boris Dallowas allowed by Gianmarco Pozzecco to register his first appearance in the premier competition after 10 years in the game against Virtus Segafredo Bologna.

Dallo was coming off a successful campaign with Cholet Basket. In 18 FIBA Europe Cup appearances, he averaged 7.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 12.1 EFF per game.

He played in the EuroLeague in the 2013-14 season when he represented Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade. Back then, he averaged 1.2 points, 1.0 rebound, and 0.8 assists per game in 22 appearances.

However, it seems that the Italian technician is not counting on him. Since his arrival at the end of October, he has only played him four times (out of 19 matches) and 27 minutes in total.

“We talked several times and I was clear with him: he can help us during training but I have far too many players in his position," Pozzecco admitted at a presser held last Sunday, per BeBasket.

"In his position, there is Nando (De Colo), Tim (Luwawu-Cabarrot), Edwin (Jackson), Chuck (Kahudi), David (Lighty), Mbaye (Ndiaye). It is not so easy. It's not because he's a bad player," the Italian coach continued.

"On the contrary, I find him very talented. But I more or less had to choose when I arrived at ASVEL. I feel bad for him because he might deserve to play. It's not that I don't like it but I prefer to use other players," he clarified.

Pozzecco seemingly pays little attention to Guerschon Yabusele, who asked that his former teammate be given a chance instead of the club signing Nico Mannion.

"No matter what, ASVEL lose important matches because they decide not to use the bench," the 2021 French champ argued.

Per BeBasket, Dallo is obviously not satisfied with his situation in Villeurbanne, where he has averaged 2.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 10 games after having played the leading roles in Cholet for two years. While his contract extends until the end of the season, which should facilitate a possible release, his camp is reportedly looking for a way out.

On the other hand, Mbaye Ndiaye, 24,was thrown into the starting lineup against Chalon on Sunday (79-72) and he strongly impacted the game with 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. The Senegalese forward's future with ASVEL is different compared to Dallo's, at least accroding to Pozzecco.

"We want to give him playing time in EuroLeague," the play-caller said last Sunday.

"We also want to see him at that level but it's hard. If you miss two minutes in the EuroLeague, you can pay dearly for it. I don't want to put that much pressure on him. I haven't used him much since I arrived but I'm starting to.

I will continue to play him in the French league, he must be involved. I don't know yet if it will be in Milan or against Olympiacos, but you will also see him on the court soon in a EuroLeague game.

NBA scouts told me that they don't watch the EuroLeague very much because young players don't play much. But I want to play him, I want to give him a chance. Tonight, he brought energy and defense. He can help us. And we must also consider the future of ASVEL, and understand that he can be a centerpiece of its future," Pozzecco concluded.
