"I don't want kids. Let's handle this like grown-ups," Edwards wrote in one of the messages the woman posted on her Instagram story, saying he would help her out financially.
Edwards later insisted on receiving a video of her girlfriend physically consuming abortion pills to make sure the process had been completed.
"Just make sure I get da video of the box wit the right pills," Edwards wrote (unedited), repeating 'send da video' a few times afterward.
Following the controversy, Edwards released a public apology on his X, formerly Twitter, account:
I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man. All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.
