When asked his thoughts on his first experience with Las Vegas, the center was blunt and critical.
"I mean, to me, probably on Earth [Vegas is] the closest thing to a dystopia, so I'm not the biggest fan of Vegas," said the French player.
Wembanyama is not the city's biggest fan, which attracts a lot of attention from the league shareholders.
On the topic of NBA expansion, Las Vegas is one of the most-talked-about destinations, with the city's global appeal and huge accumulation of capital making it an attractive prospect.
Previously, players such as LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal also voiced approval of a possible expansion to Las Vegas, though such a project has not been realized yet.
