Clarkson notched 20 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, marking the first triple-double of his career and a significant milestone for the Jazz.
This achievement ended a prolonged drought for the team, as the last regular-season triple-double was recorded by Carlos Boozer on Feb. 13, 2008, spanning an impressive 1,256 games.
"It meant a lot," Clarkson said on this achievement. "Honestly, I am the longest senior player here. Yeah, just breaking that record, seeing all the teams and guys, it's crazy. I played with Carlos Boozer. It just felt good. It's a very cool milestone to put on my list.
At 31 years old, Clarkson achieved the triple-double in his 685th regular-season game and the 728th game of his career.
Filipino did not feel it could be this night until the last board with 2:29 to play.
"Honestly, until that last rebound, maybe. At that point, I did not think it was going to happen. A lot of airballs, Walker [Kessler] was blocking shots. We just started stealing the ball, turned the defensive pressure even more. We could not miss on offense. So, yeah, all the way up to the rebound. I was a little nervous," he said with a smile.
During breaks before the crucial rebound, Clarkson engaged in light-hearted talks with coach Will Hardy.
"I was just joking with him," Clarkson noted. "I told him that I might throw it at the rim and try to run and get one. He was, 'Could you just please go get the rebound so that I could take you out of the game?' I was like, 'Bro, I am trying.' Yeah, that was really it. He said once you get a rebound, just call a timeout -- your night is over."
Meanwhile, Hardy shared his perspective on what he told Jordan Clarkson before the triple-double:
"I said get a rebound and call time out immediately," the coach shared. "I'm obviously not here to mess up a good time. I understand that I would've been maybe the most hated man in the building if I had subbed him out."
Over 23 games this season, Clarkson averages 16.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.
