Celebrated Slovenian player Goran Dragic revealed offers from several EuroLeague teams ahead of his retirement from basketball.
Credit: FIBA Credit FIBAGoran Dragic, who is a landmark name of not just Slovenian but also European basketball, revealed that he received several offers from EuroLeague teams before his retirement.
"I will be honest. I had offers from Europe, from Milan, Madrid, Panathinaikos, Barcelona..." revealed the guard. "I never wanted to go back to Europe. I wouldn't want to be without my children living in the US for a year," he stated.
"The only option was Miami [Heat], with whom I was in talks. In the end, it didn't work out because they have too many players under contract," the player revealed.
Dragic had previously stated that he was not in favor of returning to Europe, owing to a strong career he had in the NBA, playing with such teams as the Heat, the Phoneix Suns, and the Chicago Bulls.
The player also talked about what he has been up to in his off days without a team this year.
"During this time I was at home, I trained every day, even now.But my children are the most important to me now.I took them to school every day and saw how much time I lost in my career," he stated emotionally. "That is the main reason I retired."
"And also health, my left knee is not in the best condition," Dragic also noted.
In an NBA career spanning many years, Dragic accumulated statistics of 13.3 points, 3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.
He was also named the MVP of EuroBasket 2017, where Slovenia won the gold medal.
