12-year NBA veteran Ricky Rubio announced his retirement from the league on Thursday in a social media post.

Throughout his NBA journey, Rubio has averaged 10.8 points and 7.4 assists over 698 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Following his announcement, some basketball stars and organizations chimed in to congratulate him on an extensive NBA career and wish him luck in his future life and a fight with mental health issues.

For example, his long-time teammate in the Spanish national team, Pau Gasol, wrote, "Your bravery and strength will help many people. We are with you, Ricky."

"Thank you for sharing your talent with those of us who love basketball and for taking Spain to the top of the sport. You are an example for everyone. Now more than ever, we are with you," Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, went on to say.
