Previously a member of the Atlanta Hawks, Collins was traded to the Jazz in early July in exchange for Rudy Gay and a future second-round pick, essentially being a salary dump. The two sides haven't clicked, Stein notes, and the Jazz are looking to move the 26-year-old.
The former 19th overall pick signed a 5-year $120 million deal in 2021, with the last year being a player option. He now has two years left in the contract, including the 2023-24 season, before the option kicks in. The player is set to earn $26,580,000 next season.
Collins is currently the highest-paid player on the Jazz roster. He is averaging 13.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
With 16 wins and 20 losses, the Jazz are currently 12th in the Western Conference standings.
