The 32-year-old began the season with Joventut Badalona. He played 11 games in the Spanish Liga Endesa (15 points, 3.3 rebounds, 14.5 PIR) and the EuroCup (13.4 points, 3 rebounds, 10 PIR) before departing from the organization. His deal with ASVEL runs until the end of the 2023-24 season.
"I think the team is not evolving to its potential," Parker said. "This will not prevent [us from bringing in] reinforcements. Deshaun Thomas has arrived in Lyon. That will help. And we are still looking for a point guard. We must strengthen ourselves in creation."
ASVEL are currently sitting in last place in the EuroLeague standings with just three wins in nineteen rounds. However, Parker thinks all hope is not lost this year.
"[Otherwise,] we wouldn't have signed Deshaun Thomas. We don't want to finish last in the EuroLeague, and we want to be competitive in the [French] Championship, to at least play the final, and win a trophy, like the Leaders Cup last year, or the [French] Cup. We believe in it, and if we find a Casper Ware or an Adreian Payne like [we did] in 2016 and 2019," Parker said.
"They boosted us and led us to the title. The results are disappointing, and I'm the first to be upset at how things have turned out, but that doesn't stop me from being excited for the future. ASVEL is my baby, I want us to win. But we never burn our wings. There are steps to follow," Parker concluded.
