However, it seems that the Serbian capital could also undertake the organization of the prestigious basketball event in 2026.
Belgrade's candidacy was confirmed by the president of the country, Aleksandar Vucic, in the morning program 'Novo jutro' on RTV Pink.
"Belgrade applied for the organization of the Final Four in 2026. We hope to have at least one of our representatives in the final tournament," Vucic said referring to Partizan and Crvena Zvezda.
"We just set high goals and we have to fight in every place. Not to mention building a complete sports infrastructure," the Serbian politician added.
Partizan are currently 9th in the table with a balance of 10-9, while Crvena Zvezda are placed 13th with 8 wins and 11 losses.
In 2018, Real Madrid, Fenerbahce, Zalgiris and CSKA Moscow fought for the title in Belgrade, and the Royal Club won it by defeating Fenerbahce, while Luka Doncic was declared the MVP of the final tournament.
In 2022, Anadolu Efes, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Olympiacos Piraeus competed for the silverware, and the Turkish club defended the trophy based on MVP-worthy Vasilije Micic.
