"[T]hose two years," Schroder reminisced with a hint of unhappiness. It was with the advice of his then-manager that the German player eventually ended up rejecting the lucrative offer.
"And I would have signed it," stated the guard. "I would never just leave money on the table. My mom didn't raise me that way," Schroder revealed.
The guard is not very keen on remembering those days and is happy with his current situation.
"It was like my two worst years of my career, and in those two years I made $8 million. I had two healthy kids, my mom, my siblings. I can buy anything I want. I had a $70 million contract before. A guy from Germany? From Braunschweig? I'm more than blessed. I'm with the people who love me and was there through the darkest days."
Ultimately, Schroder signed with the Toronto Raptors this summer, where he is averaging 14.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists.
