Despite a robust start by Zeljko Obradovic's squad, which saw them leading by 17 points at the onset of the second quarter, Sarunas Jasikevicius and his team showcased great resilience on the defensive end. They overturned the substantial deficit, securing a double-digit lead and ultimately sealing a 91-76 victory.
Fenerbahce struggled early, conceding 31 points in the first quarter, but an additional 45 points combined over the following three quarters.
During the post-game conference, coach Jasikevicius was questioned about the time required to consistently implement such strong defense throughout the entire game.
"We need to go to church and pray for that," he responded. "Listen, it is very clear that there are two different Fenerbahces: one is very disciplined and very physical, and one still cannot do that for long periods of time. If we want to achieve something this year, it has to be for longer periods of time.
"We are trying. I think the guys are trying to learn the system," he continued optimistically. "Practices have been great, and the effort is great, but everything needs time. With so many games in the season, it is very difficult.
"We must look at the positives. Like I said, 17, 16, and 12 points in the three quarters is a phenomenal performance by our guys."
Since taking over the team, Saras is now 6-1 in the EuroLeague, while Fenerbahce have made at least a temporary move into Top 4.
