Spoelstra agreed on an eight-year $120 million extension with the Heat, making it the largest coaching contract in NBA history, Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN adds.
A two-time NBA champion in 2012 and 2013, Spoelstra coached the Heat to two NBA Finals appearances in the last four seasons. The 53-year-old specialist is widely regarded as one of the best tacticians in the game, who manages to instill the famous Heat culture in players.
Spoelstra is 19th on the all-time winningest coaches list with 1231 wins in his career.
