This marked the second-worst loss in the team's history, the first being a 65-point defeat to Indiana on Feb. 27, 1998.
Trail Blazers became the first franchise in NBA history to suffer multiple losses by 60 or more points.
Their offensive struggles were evident, with their 77 points being the fewest by any team in a game over the past two seasons.
"I mean, this was, sheesh -- not much really good to say about this one for us," Portland coach Chauncey Billupsnoted. "I mean, I will say this. I thought that we generated some pretty good looks in the first half. The fact that we couldn't make pretty much anything deflated us.
"But more than anything on the defensive end, I mean, shoot, we just had no resistance," the 47-year-old continued. "We get 58 points in the paint in the first half. I mean, shoot, most teams don't get that in the game.
"We just had no resistance. I thought we allowed our lack of shot-making to deflate us on the other end of the floor. And then you are against an elite team that really moves the ball; they get 41 assists on 53 made field goals. I mean, this is unheard of."
The 62-point margin tied for the fifth-largest victory in NBA history.
Interestingly, the Thunder had experienced the other side of such blowouts, having suffered a record-setting 73-point loss to Memphis on Dec. 2, 2021.
"It was almost like a perfect storm, to be honest with you," Billups said. "Nothing really worked for us."
The third quarter proved particularly challenging, as Oklahoma City outscored Portland 43-17, establishing a 118-56 lead entering the fourth quarter -- the largest lead going into the final quarter in NBA history.
