Ball sprained his ankle during a game against the Orlando Magic. With 2:26 remaining in the second quarter, Ball drove to the basket and shot a contested layup over Paolo Banchero. Following the shot, the Hornets guard landed awkwardly.
Further tests at the time didn't reveal a fraction, but Ball was forced to wear a walking boot and crutches.
Before getting injured, Ball was averaging career-high numbers with 25.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game.
