The team had players such as Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, and Scottie Pippen under coach Phil Jackon's leadership.
While the ceremony was of generally positive emotions, with major names receiving adulation and countless applause, many fans started booing Jerry Krause, the GM of the Bulls between 1985 and 2003.
Krause's widow, Thelma Krause, was present at the ceremony on behalf of her late husband and was visibly moved by the boos, according to ESPN.
The GM, although having put together the legendary '90s rosters in the first place, has often been portrayed as being responsible for their dissolution also, which is why the fans reacted in that way.
The incident received a lot of backlash from the NBA community, as the likes of Stacey King, Steve Kerr, and DeMar DeRozan spoke out against the boos.
Former Bulls forward King said the following: "I'm telling you what, Chicago is a sports town, and what we witnessed today when Jerry Krause's name was called and the people that booed Jerry Krause and his widow, who was accepting this honor for him, it was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life."
Steve Kerr, the current head coach of the Golden State Warriors and former Bulls player, agreed: "I'm devastated for Thelma and the Krause family. I cannot believe that the fans -- and you have to understand when you hear boos, it's not all of them," Kerr explained.
"The fans who booed, they know who they are. To me, it's absolutely shameful, and I'm devastated by that."
For his part, current Bulls superstar DeRozan also stuck by Krause's legacy.
"You can never take away what he created. Without Jerry, there wouldn't be a historic Chicago Bulls history," he stated. "Family, friends that are still here ought to be appreciated and shouldn't be disrespected."
