"He's just a bland player bro," Carmelo Anthony said. "That's not a shot. That's not disrespect," he clarified.
"I ask a lot of Knicks [Barrett's previous team] fans, it's just like, he's good, he get it done sometimes, but he's not an exciting player. You don't know if he got 4 or 26," Anthony further admonished the player.
The former NBA superstar also called Barrett's personality "bland."
Speaking of Barrett's departure from the Knicks, Anthony compared him to OG Anunoby, who moved to the Knicks from the Raptors.
"OG can do the same thing that RJ doing. He just don't demand it the way that RJ demanded to be a part of the offensive..." Anthony said. "[OG] still gonna play defense no matter what, whereas RJ, he gotta score 20. Where that 20 is going to come in now? You are 20, 23, 24, as the third option on that team."
This, according to Carmelo Anthony, is the reason why Barrett ultimately decided to leave the Knicks, feeling that he could be shown more attention elsewhere.
So far, Barrett is averaging 18.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists throughout his NBA season, with both the Knicks and the Raptors.
