The 29-year-old from Cacak got the most attention when he limited Canada's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, an All-NBA guard, in the semifinal and dazzled the crowd with his emotions.
He received a huge welcome in his hometown.
"Aleksa Avramovic is the best player from Cacak that I represented because he did a lot last year, he reached quality, I even got a lot of questions about Aleksa from the NBA," his agent, Misko Raznatovic, who also represents Nikola Jokic, said in an interview with Kablarnet.
"The bottom line is that he's a nice and kind guy with whom I have excellent communication. It's hard to go to Italy from KLS (Serbian League). I managed to do it with him, and I felt really good after Aleksa's move to Varese. We didn't really dream [about it], but it came true for him to win silver at the World Cup, to put the best guard in the NBA league in his pocket," Raznatovic said. "I also saw the welcome after the World Cup in Cacak. No one had such a welcome, I was even jealous of him. Aleksa deserved it."
Avramovic is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but he's scheduled to return to the court in the upcoming weeks, having started practicing with the team already. Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, a team that Avramovic represents, is currently in the middle of the pack in the EuroLeague.
With the rise of Avramovic's role in Partizan rose the eternal conflict between Partizan and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade. The last derby in the EuroLeague between the two teams was won by the red-and-whites, Crvena Zvezda hold a significant advantage in the ABA League as well, but Raznatovic isn't certain they will win the league in the end.
"Whoever has the home-field advantage has the advantage. In the last five years, the host lost only once in the ABA League finals. Zvezda [lost] to Buducnost when it was certainly not expected. Objectively, Partizan was more dominant, and the derby ended with the victory of Zvezda. If the derby were to be played again in two days, and the floor was black and white, Partizan would probably win. Nothing is over yet," Raznatovic said.
