Over the last days, Murray has been gaining a lot of traction in NBA trade rumors. Per a report from Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and the Detroit Pistons have all emerged as potential landing spots, ahead of the February 8 trade deadline.
In a recent interview on TNT, the All-Stat guard opened up about the rumors regarding his former team, the San Antonio Spurs, showing interest in a possible trade. Murray described Popovich as more than just a coach and expressed his openness to considering any offers that might come his way.
"Pop is like a father to me, I would welcome that. But right now, I’m a Hawk, I’m going to stay professional and play the right way," said Murray.
Murray is averaging 21.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 46.9% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 82.1% from the free-throw line.
The Washington product is making $17.7 million. The Hawks signed Murray to a four-year, $114 million extension in July. Murray will make $24.8 million in 2024-25 and $26.8 million in 2025-26.
