After the game, Doncic said his mentality was different this time around.
Despite attempting 22 field goals, Doncic went to the free-throw line just twice during the entire game. Asked about it after the game, the Slovenian superstar did not want to get into it.
"It was intentional. Just focus on basketball," Doncic said about the decreased number of conversations he had with the referees. "I talked with them normally without complaining or anything. I think it was nothing the whole game. I just go out there and hoop, and have fun. It was the old Luka with a smile on my face."
"I don't want to talk about it. I'm good, focus on basketball," Doncic laughed when asked about the three free throws he attempted.
The 25-year-old Mavericks superstar essentially sealed the game by blocking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's layup with 55 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.
"It was big. Next year, All-NBA Defensive Team," Doncic said with a big smile. "Nah, the ball just escaped a little bit for him, so that's why I got the block."
