Last October, a report by Encestando came out claiming that a new team is being formed in Dubai that would participate in the ABA League and in the EuroLeague.

Asked about it, the ABA League director, Milija Vojinovic, did not deny it.

"Dubai has a desire to play in the ABA League. We have already talked, we have agreed on some things. We will continue to talk," hetold Bojan Brezovac from Mozzart Sport.

However, Dubai isn't the only country likely to have a representative in the Adriatic League. According to unofficial information from Meridian Sport, Romanian side U-BT Cluj-Napoca have requested their participation, even though it remains unclear whether they're willing to offer a financial injection to the league, as Dubai has done.

Per the Serbian outlet, the club from the UAE is ready to present sponsorship contracts worth $3,000,000, which would cover all the expenses of the teams as well as the ABA League (air tickets, accommodation of teams, referees, officials) that would be incurred in the next two seasons if the ABA league were to be held in Dubai.

The offer also includes two ABA Super Cup tournaments in Dubai, with the prize fund amounting to $200,000.

Only the Assembly of the ABA League can decide whether these offers will be accepted and whether the two clubs will play in the regional competition that covers six countries of the former Yugoslavia.

According to the Statute, only a unanimous decision can expand the competition, which means that all members of the highest body of the league must agree for Dubai and Cluj to play in the ABA League.
