"Laprovittola still has some discomfort, and we prefer not to force him," said Grimau. "Nnaji is getting back on track, although he will not be able to travel, and [Michael] Caicedo is progressing very favorably," the Spanish specialist stated, talking about two young players, the latter of whom has been out for a long while. "He is already doing more things on the track, and the road is closer for him..."
On the status of Abrines, who has been diagnosed with pubalgia, also known as sports hernia, Grimau had the following to say.
"I always try to be optimistic. We'll see. [Abrines's injury]is a type of injury that depends a lot on [its progression]," explained the coach. "There are weeks in which it goes very quickly and others in which it takes a step back, but I hope that we can count on him," Grimau said about the upcoming Copa del Rey, which begins for Barcelona on February 16.
Laprovittola, despite having injury problems this season, is having a golden year, averaging 13.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists with 40.4% three-point shooting and 59.3% two-point shooting.
On the other hand, Alex Abrines is averaging 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds on 55% two-point and 44.7% three-point shooting across 14 contests in the EuroLeague.
