The Newport Beach Police Department announced on Wednesday that it had concluded its investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship between Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey and an underage girl in California.

Legally, Giddey may be in the clear, but he remains under scrutiny from his employer -- the NBA. According to TMZ Sports, the league's review into claims of an improper relationship with a minor is still ongoing.

The police statement affirmed, "After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completed our investigation into information circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey. Our detectives reviewed all available information and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey."

NBA commissioner Adam Silver had previously stated in December that the league would hold off on any punishment for Giddey until the investigation results were known, awaiting the completion of the Newport Beach PD inquiry.

Now that the police investigation is over, it seems the NBA is resuming its own review.

When asked about shifting his focus back to basketball now that the Newport Beach PD investigation is closed, Giddey responded on Thursday, "I get that you have to ask that, but I have no comment regarding that situation."

Similarly, when questioned about the past couple of months, his response remained the same.

Throughout the investigation, Giddey has remained active with the Thunder, appearing in 40 of the team's 41 games this season and averaging career-lows in points (12.0), rebounds (6.2), and assists (4.7).
