In return, Charlotte receives Kyle Lowry and a 1st-round pick that includes protections, Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN adds. The selection is a lottery-protected 2027 first-rounder. If the protection is exercised, the pick becomes unprotected in 2028, Jake Fischer from Yahoo Sports reports.
The Hornets are not expected to work on a buyout with Lowry. Instead, the organization will work on another trade involving the player before the February 8 trade deadline, Woj notes.
Before getting moved, Rozier was having a career season with the Hornets, averaging 23.2 points (career-best), 3.9 rebounds, and 6.6 assists (career-best) per game. Meanwhile, 37-year-old Lowry was having a down year, averaging 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.
With 10 wins and 31 losses, the Hornets are currently 13th in the Eastern Conference and hold the 4th-worst record in the NBA. The Heat, meanwhile, have 24 wins and 19 losses and are sitting in 6th place in the East.
