Robinson was one of the 41 players selected to the Team USA's extended list for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ideally, he'd like to represent his nation in either 5x5 or 3x3 basketball.
"There’s definitely a chance," the player said. "We’re in the process of trying to figure out how to make it 100%, make it happen. My hope and goal is to go there in some capacity, one team or the other. I would just relish the opportunity to represent my country."
"It’s a physical game, it’s a fast-paced game, the conditioning aspect helps me," Robinson said about 3x3 basketball.
In order to represent Team USA in 3x3 basketball, Robinson will have to overcome a series of hurdles. Only four athletes are allowed to represent a country, while two of them have to be ranked in the Top 10 of their country's individual ranking. The remaining two players have to either be in the Top 10 as well or have played in at least one FIBA 3x3 official competition between January 1, 2023, and June 24, 2024.
Robinson currently doesn't meet any of the standards.
Team USA is guaranteed a place in the Olympics as a top-three 3x3 team in the world. Former NBA player and NCAA star Jimmer Fredette is currently ranked 5th in the world and is almost a lock to make the Olympic team.
Known for his incredible shooting from beyond the arc, Robinson averages 13.7 points per game this season, making three-pointers at 41.1% with 7 attempts per game.
