According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the former Philadelphia 76ers coach will take over the Milwaukee Bucks.

ESPN's report is also corroborated by The Athletic.

The two sides had deliberations that began on Tuesday night and continued well until Wednesday morning, according to the same source.

On the other hand, Adrian Griffin's sacking, despite a decent record of 30-12 and the second place in the Eastern Conference, was explained by the management's desire to hire a more experienced coach who could bring them a championship.

Wojnarowski explains the saga of Griffin and the Bucks as follows.

"Under immense expectations, Griffin was hired to replace Mike Budenholzer in June and tasked with incorporating his system into a star-veteran team," Wojnarowski states. "[Jon] Horst [GM of the Bucks] has believed Griffin will develop into a good NBA head coach but had lost confidence that he could do it within the timeline of the Bucks' immediate championship window."

Furthermore, Shams Chanaria of The Athletic notes that the Bucks started holding talks with Rivers as an "informal consultant" way back in December 2023.

Doc Rivers has been jobless since the end of the 2022-23 season when the Philadelphia 76ers sacked him and brought Nick Nurse to the head of the bench instead.
